Maria Rosalba's story

This is Rosalba, a hard working woman who has lived 64 years. She separated from her husband with whom she had 3 children, all adults now and with families. She is hard-working and she supports herself with her culinary abilities. She sells lunch meals which she prepares over charcoal flames. Rosalba works for her only one ambition, to maintain and buy a home. This is the dream of this adorable grandmother. She smiles because she knows she will achieve her goal, she does not know how but she will.

She requests a loan to buy ingredients to prepare “bandeja paisa” (a traditional popular dish that includes beans, rice, ground beef, chorizo with lime, plaintain, avocado, “arepa” or corn cake, fried egg and a slice of “chicharrón” or fried pork belly), “sudado” (Colombian style chicken stew), sancocho (thick soup made with root vegetables and different kinds of meats) and mondogo (pork, tripe and chorizo soup). These are typical dishes of the Antioqueña region. This sweet grandmother is so amazing that she works even though she has a disability.
