A loan helped restock her store.

Athanasia's story

Athanasia is a 26-year-old store owner, volunteer teacher, and mother. She runs a business selling all sorts of things from her store and is requesting a loan from KIVA to provide the capital to expand it. Greater profits from the store will help Athanasia to improve her home living conditions for herself and for her relatives. As a volunteer Camfed Learner Guide, she teaches life skills to students in her local secondary school, including lessons on effective communication and personal confidence. Her lessons focus on effective communication and on building her students’ confidence. The interest on Athanasia’s “social interest” loan will be repaid through this weekly two and a half hours of volunteering, which are so valuable for Camfed’s younger students.
