Chum's story

Chum V. sells fried corn at the local market in Phnom Penh. She earns about $10/day in revenue, of which $3 is profit. Her husband is a preacher, and her earn about $1.50/day. Chum and her husband have 3 children that live with them--1 works for a private company and earns $70/month, 1 is a garment factory worker, and 1 helps with his mother's business. With this loan, Chum V. will buy a motorbike for transportation to and from the market. She also has plans to use the motorbike for delivering cakes that one of her friends bakes. As she saves up money, she wants to slowly build up the land around her house to protect her family from floods during the rainy season.
