Kadia, age 38, is a woman from Mali who is married with six children ages 3 to 18. She is the member sitting and holding fabrics in the group photo. Her husband is a blacksmith who makes weeding hoes for the locals. Kadia is a homemaker who engages in small trade after her daily housework is done. For over 7 years she has been selling fabrics and cooked food.
Kadia will use the RMCR loan to buy fabrics and cereals. She buys her fabrics in Ivory Coast and sells them in Mali, cash or credit. As for the maize, she buys it locally to make a porridge that she sells around her neighborhood.
Her profits allow her to support herself and to help her husband. She hopes that her activities will help her to provide for her children’s education and their future.
Kadia’s main challenge is a frequent shortage of fabrics, which makes it hard for her to meet customer demand.
