A loan helped a member to buy hybrid seeds and fertilizer for the cultivation of maize.

Elizabeth's Group's story

Shown in the picture above, Elizabeth is representing her group comprised of twelve farmers in Matete District, Kenya. She is 38 years old, a married mother of five children and is often described as a very experienced farmer.

Although Elizabeth has been a farmer for ten years, she is new to One Acre Fund. She decided to join this year because she wanted to earn more and spread the story of One Acre Fund farmers. With the profits earned from this season’s harvest, Elizabeth hopes to be able to save more money for the future.

With this 85,960 KES loan, her group will receive farming inputs such as hybrid seeds and fertilizer to plant a total of 6.25 acres of land. Five of the farmers in the group (not including Elizabeth) will also be purchasing a solar light as part of their loan package.

In this group: Elizabeth, Janerose, Shem, Jackline, Florence, Millicent, Sarah, Peter, Lyanda, Alice, Elizabeth, Robai
