A loan helped a member to pay for the cost of tillage, fertilizer, and corn and chili seeds.

Tani Sari Group's story

Tani Sari is a group of farmers who own land or rent land from others. In the last period, they borrowed money to buy seeds and fertilizer. Six months ago was the dry season, so they decided to plant crops that are suitable for the dry season, such as peanuts, cassava and other crops. Currently they are already harvesting, and they got the expected results. That's because the results of the plantation is very nice and they have a high selling price. Tani Sari group members are very grateful for the results that they got, and they thank the lenders, Kiva and MUK.

After paying off the loan, the Tani Sari group re-applied for a loan for the cost of fertilizer, seeds and maintenance cost. This month is the start of the rainy season, and they have to change the way they prepare the land and plant crops that’s suitable for the rainy season.

Sayu Putu is using her part of the loan to pay for the cost of tillage, fertilizer, and to buy corn and chili seeds. She hopes the corn and chilies can grow well and she can sell them at a high price. Sayu Putu has a dream and hope to repair her house with the results obtained from the garden. Two of the members are not pictured because they had to attend a Ngaben (burning corpse) ceremony at the Temple.
