A loan helped to buy agricultural inputs and pay for labor to assist her coffee crops.

Estela's story

Estela is 44 years old. She completed her Primary schooling. She is married to Jorge who like the majority of males in their community works in agriculture growing coffee, beans and corn amongst other fields which are sources of income for the various families. She has four children from her marriage who all study in the educational institute in their community.

As the main source of income for her family and to support her household she works planting and growing coffee which is produced in company with her family for 15 years. She learned to do this from her parents at a very young age. The land that the family works has been bought in part and the other part an inheritance from her husband's father. Her clients say that she is very safe and dependable as this product is very popular for daily consumption. Sales are best at the end and the beginning of each year. The challenges in this business are infestations like coffee rust and frost (the climate).

At this time Estela is requesting a loan which she will invest in buying fertilizer and manure to apply the proper fertilization of her coffee crops caring for them as they are damaged and contaminated so they need care. Together with her husband she has proposed the goal of expanding their business by buying more land to create greater income, plant a new greenhouse that they have planned and be able to buy a car. Her dream is to support her children with all they need so that they can continue to study so that they have better employment opportunities and be able to leave each one an inheritance.
