Githima Gichiengo Shg Group's story

In 2012, a group called Githima Gichiengo SHG joined Hand in Hand Eastern Africa to be trained on financial management and savings mobilization.

The person on the left hand side is called Leah. She is forty five years old and lives with her three children. She farms vegetables such as tomatoes and carrots. She would like to expand her farming to earn more income. It’s for this reason that she is borrowing money to buy more planting seeds and fertilizer for her farm.

She hopes that a Kiva loan will help her increase her income, which will enable her to meet her daily expenses and support her children's education by paying school fees.

Leah is grateful to Kiva and all the lenders for the financial support.

In this group: Leah, Rose
