A loan helped to buy a truck to transport organic cucumber.

Blanca's story

Blanca (fourth from the left), along with her partners Laura (first), Lilia (second), Andrés (third), Marin (fifth) and Luis (last) are the most active members of Truequio, a cooperative formed to produce and export organic cucumber. Marin is Luis and Blanca´s father and Andres and Laura are brother and sister. They all live in the same town in Morelos, Mexico.

Truequio is part of a larger savings cooperative, UNDECO, started by Marin in the late 90´s. Unlike many other cooperatives in Mexico, Truequio is run by young members like Andres, Blanca and Luis. In less than three years they have built a packinghouse in a very small town in Mexico that meets USDA´s organic regulations.

Truequio helps more than 12 producers sell and export their cucumber. To do so, they collect every member´s production and take it to their packinghouse for sorting and packaging using an old 78 VW Bus. Truequio is asking for a loan to buy a 3.5 TON truck to replace the old VW Bus.

Their vision for Truequio is to help local farmers access organic markets in order to improve their living standards while promoting the benefits of sustainable agricultural practices. Blanca, Laura, Lilia, Andrés, Marin and Luis are truly committed to promoting organic agriculture among local producers in order to make healthy eating more accessible.
