Mrs Hoa, who was born in 1984, lives in Vietnam but is ethnically Thai, and joined M7-MFI in 2007. She lives with her husband and two sons in the Mai Son district of Son La province. Her family’s main income comes from farming. She often uses chemical fertilizers to grow coffee but this year she learned about the effectiveness and impact of organic fertilizers on the environment, and decided to take out a loan from M7-MFI to buy organic fertilizer. Though the cost of purchasing organic fertilizers is twice the usual price, she expects this change will improve her field and increase the size of her harvest.
