A loan helped to maintain one hectare of coffee beans already in production.

Virgillo's story

Virgillo is 51 years old and has a stable household with his spouse and their three children; one is 23 years old and brings earnings into the household with a primary education; the second is a 14-year-old girl who also completed primary education; and a 7-year-old girl who goes to school in Andamarca hamlet, where they live.

The family lives in their own, two-story house made with rustic materials. Virgilio was born in Andamarca hamlet, in the Huabo sector. He lives in harmony with his family and the other inhabitants in the hamlet. He lives in the rural part of Andamarca hamlet, Santo Tomas district, in a small community where most of the inhabitants farm or raise livestock. His house has access to water.

Virgilio cultivates coffee, with one hectare of cultivation at this time. He grows the Catimor variety, and the plantation is 3 years old. In this area, all the plantations are new. This is his second year of production. He owns an agricultural plot of 3 hectares, on which he cultivates coffee. He has been doing this work for 10 years, while before he cultivated the national Cuenta variety. He has experience in the work of cultivating coffee.

This client also raises livestock, in particular cattle, with five cows at the moment, and cultivates and produces bread. All this is done on his land in Andamarca hamlet.

This loan will be used to maintain one hectare of coffee beans already in production. With this he can ensure a larger and better crop for the 2015 harvest, and in the end obtain better income so he can in turn improve the quality of life for himself and his family.
