A loan helped to pay for wires, fertilizer and pesticides for the grape orchard.

Alvard's story

Alvard lives in Aralez village in the Ararat region. She lives there with her big and nice family of six others: her husband, three children, a daughter-in-law and a 2-year-old grandchild.

Alvard, besides her work at a local kindergarten, is also running their family farm. She cultivates tomatoes and some fruit trees (peach, cherry, apple). The main profit comes from the grape orchard that is located near the house where Alvard lives. To be able to solve problems connected with the grape orchard, Alvard asks for this loan. She needs to purchase wires, fertilizer and pesticides for the grape orchard.

She received a prior loan from a local financial institution but, unfortunately, wasn't able to pay it back. However, thanks to her hard work in recent times, Alvard was able to run her agribusiness in a sustainable way, ensuring that she will be able to cover the monthly payments. So, she has now been approved for a loan within the framework of a new joint initiative between Kiva and SEF international. The second-chance loan program provides loans to people who have a bad credit history and have no access to credit products.
