A loan helped to repair the roof of her home kitchen, as the rain has damaged it.

María Luisa's story

María is 55 years old. She is an enterprising woman. She is a single mother with three children; two of them are with her, and one is currently outside the country. In addition to her children, María's mother lives with her, as she is in bad health.

María did not go to school, as her parents did not urge her to study. Her youngest daughter is now in the third year of a BA program to be a secretary.

María sells snacks two times per week. She mentions that, as a child, she learned how to make all kinds of appetizers: fried yucca, enchiladas, cakes, tamales, atoles (a hot drink made of corn), and much more. Her mother showed her how to make them, and later she decided to work in this business to support her three children. She mentions that, with great effort, she has been able to move forward.

The loan she is asking for is to repair the roof of her home kitchen, as she has said that the rain has damaged it. Due to this, she feels insecure in her home, as water is getting into the house.

María says that her dream at this moment is to see her daughter graduate with her BA; of the three children, she is the only one who is still studying. She wants her daughter to continue her university studies.
