A loan helped to buy and sell Barefoot Power solar lighting.

Climate Concern Ltd's story

Jean is the director of Climate Concern Ltd. Climate Concern helps community health workers to access clean light that doesn't harm children and pregnant women that seek health services from them during evening hours. Solar systems help them to charge their phone so that they can report health cases via Rapid SMS. Community health is performance-based incentive work and reporting frequently and on time allows community health workers to earn more incentives.

Community health workers need solar systems but have no cash. They would like to buy them in installments. Climate Concern has been giving them Barefoot products on loan but Climate Concern cannot help them all without a partnership with Barefoot. Climate Concern wants to reach at least 30,000 out of the 45,000 community health workers countrywide who need solar systems. This started in 2013 but the speed is not enough to reach all of them.

Hands need to come together to save lives of pregnant women and children under five.
