Manuela is 38 year old and an enterprising woman determined to get ahead in life. She does not allow herself to be defeated by the obstacles she faces. Instead she reaches all her goals and dreams. She has three children to support. The oldest is married and the others are excellent students in their community schools. (She is the first one from the left, wearing a purple blouse.)
She gets her income from raising bananas in her community. Her parents taught her how to do this 30 years ago. She sells her products in the markets around her community and earns an income with which to improve her family’s quality of life.
She will use the money from this loan to maintain her banana crops, since it’s very important to her that her plants produce quality fruit so she doesn’t lose customers that she counts on. She is a good example in her community and for this reason she and a group of women decided to go into business together in order to improve their families’ quality of life. One of her grandest aspirations is to plant more bananas and watch her children get an education and become professionals.
