A loan helped a member to buy wool in bulk.

Asmicra Group's story

The not for profit organisation 'Asmicra' will begin their twenty third loan cycle with Pro Mujer as part of the regional hub of Villa Tejada. It is made up of nine members and is directed by an executive board of which Amanda is the president. The businesses that the association's members carry out are diverse and include selling sweets, shoes, sewing, making sports clothes and selling sports shoes and humintas.

This loan will benefit the small businesses and business holders which Amanda is also a part of. She told us that it has been two years since she joined Pro Mujer, having been invited by a consultant from the institution who visited her at home. At the moment Amanda runs a business knitting jumpers. She also made it known that she began this business several years ago when still knitted by hand. After obtaining a loan Amanda was able to buy a machine so that she can produce her garments en masse.

The loan that she is currently applying for is to increase her capital (by buying wool in bulk) which she will acquire from sellers in Ciudad de El Alto and later after knitting the garments she will sell them in the La Paz markets. This form of work allows her to generate an income so that she can support her family economically since she is single.

When asked what she liked about Pro Mujer, Amanda responded that she liked the training sessions and the area of health that the institution offers.
