A loan helped to build a corridor in her house so that she will have a special space for her business.

Brenda Beatriz's story

Brenda lives in a home with her stepmother and two children, aged 2 and 5. She is the only who has all the responsibility for raising and providing for her children. In order to have economic resources and pay for the cost of her (and her children's) expenses, she has made a living selling tortillas and a variety of cosmetics for the past two years.

She learned of this trade three years ago with one of her uncles, and she now performs it together with her stepmother. They sell tortillas from 6am to 12pm. The rest of the afternoon they make a living selling cosmetics, an advantage being that in her area, she has no competition.

The capital that she needs will be used to build a corridor in her house so she can have a special space for her business. Here her customers will be able to be protected from the sun and rain while they wait. Luckily she does not have many difficulties, because there is little crime where she lives, and she has maintained customer loyalty.

Brenda says her hopes are to keep her business running, to finalize the construction of her home, and to give her children opportunities for academic improvement.
