Om Self Help Group was formed in 2013 and is composed of 10 members in a small village in Odisha. Kumari is the lady who is standing with her hand raised in the photograph. Kumari, aged 40, is an educated member of their group, so she was selected as the leader of Om SHG. Kumari has one son, aged 15 years. She is living with her husband and her son. Her son is continuing his schooling.
With the loan that she is receiving, Kumari plans to boost her agricultural business, and to do so, she will purchase chemical fertilizers, rent a field and pay for the cost of labor. In order to strengthen her agricultural business, she plans to improve her strategy and make use of new farming techniques. Both Kumari and her husband have been involved in this activity for 15 years. They have good knowledge of paddy rice cultivation and vegetable cultivation.
Kumari currently grows rice. She has requested a loan to expand her agriculture activity. Her ambition is to enlarge the business for which she is receiving financial support, and to diversify her activity by growing vegetables.
