Carlos lives in Lima with his parents. His mother is the only support for the household because his father has a chronic illness and cannot work. She sells clothing in a market and earns only what is necessary to make ends meet. Because of the expenses for medicine for her husband, it's impossible for her to keep paying for Carlos's educational expenses.
Carlos is halfway through his program in automotive electronics and, although he very much wants to be able to continue, he'll have to leave school to work if he doesn't have the Kiva lenders' support. He has very good grades and is among the best in his class, so it would be a shame if he couldn't continue in school because he would be a great professional.
Carlos is aware that without the help of Kiva lenders it won't be possible for him to continue with his program. That's why he's appealing to and thanking them for all their support so he can continue his studies and be able to graduate.
He thinks that access to an education is extremely important for being able to get ahead, which is precisely what inspires him to keep going every day in search of a better future for himself and his family.
