A loan helped to purchase more materials that will be used in her tailoring business.

Grace's story

Grace is 33 years old and lives in the town of Nansana, in the Kampala east region of Uganda. She is married and has three children, two of whom are currently in school. For the past five years, Grace has been working hard to manage her tailoring business, in which she does sew clothes and a tailoring school.

To help expand her business, Grace has requested a loan of UGX 2,500,000 (Ugandan shillings) from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to purchase more materials that will be used in her tailoring business and will help Grace to generate greater profits and pay school fees for her children. Grace hopes that, in the future, she will be able to own a larger tailoring school, just as you can see in the photo the lady in there is being trained in tailoring.

Grace is a member of BRAC Uganda's Small Enterprise Program (SEP). The program primarily serves small entrepreneurs, like Grace, who do not have enough collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown too large for microloans.
