A loan helped to clean his cacao farm.

Edgar's story

Edgar is an organic certified Maya Mountain cacao farmer who lives in the beautiful village of Santa Elena, in the Toledo district of southern Belize. He sees cacao farming as a beneficial long-term investment for himself and his family. Edgar believes that cacao is a sustainable agricultural crop, that is good for the environment and will help develop his local community. He wants to secure a Kiva microloan so he could properly clean and prune his cacao farm. He plans to use the revenue generated from his cacao crop to educate his children and improve his family’s lifestyle.
