The 10 members of the Djantoyerela I group are married women who are on average 38 years old with two children. They live in polygamous families in Bougoula, one of the villages in Sanankoroba, in the second administrative region of Mali.
They collaborate with the Soro Yiriwaso micro-finance institution in order to manage their agricultural activities during the winter.
This is their third agricultural loan with the institution, they have repaid the previous loans.
Kadia Faseliba, who is the second from the right sitting down in the photo, cultivates peanuts and millet.
With her loan she plans to buy fertiliser and seeds and to pay labour costs for the work on two hectares of land.
After the harvest, they sell the production in the village and in Sanankoroba to a mixed clientele made up of retailers and consumers.
She hopes to make an average profit of 95.000FCFA per field.
This profit will enable her to pay back her loan and assist her husband in day to day expenses.
