A loan helped a member to buy 80 bags of shea nuts and pay for fuel to power stoves for the processing of premium shea butter.


Kpangmanga-Bagurugu Group's story

Muniratu is 30 years old and has five children. She is a member of a shea nut processing women group from Bagurugu in the northern region of Ghana. Muniratu is wearing a white veil and is in 6th place as you count squatting group members from your right as you face their photo. Their group is called ‘Kpangmanga-Bagurugu’ Women Association.
Muniratu has been in this business with 31 others in the group for the past three years. A new loan of GHȼ 9,300 will support her and hert colleagues to buy 80 bags of shea nuts and pay for fuel to power stoves for the processing of premium shea butter. There are organisations and individuals who will buy the shea butter Kubura processes.
She intends to expand the business venture and thereby increase her income and sustainability. With increased income she will be able to repay the loan, stay in business and also support her children to have a better education and better food to eat.
