A loan helped to buy fertilizers and pay for farmworkers and she also will be able to go through the process at the registry to have the legal title on the property.

Vilma Angelica's story

Vilma, 44 years old, studied up to fifth grade. She dropped out because her family did not have the economic resources to continue sending her to school. She worked at rope-making, together with her parents, to make extra income and help her parents with the household expenses and so her other younger brothers and sisters could study.

She is married and her husband is a day laborer and farmer. Together they have 6 children; the first 5 are boys and the last one is a girl. They are studying. The eldest studies civil engineering and works to pay for his own studies, because the economic income for the household is very low. The second child works as a day laborer with his father. The rest are in elementary school at a school about 2 kilometers from their house. They are a very united and hard-working family.

Since her childhood, she has worked doing household chores and making ropes. She learned from her parents since they worked in this field. That was how they were able to get ahead with the family expenses.

The loan she is requesting from CREDICAMPO is to grow 7,000 square meters of corn and 3,500 of beans. With the rest, she wishes to legalize a title, so she can buy fertilizers and pay the farmworkers and also go through the process at the registry to get the title on the property.

She wants all her children to finish their studies, so they won't be incomplete like hers, and they can get a job where they are well paid. She also hopes that the production of staple crops is very good, so she will have enough for the summer, and she wants to have the legal documents so she can do what she wants with the land without the fear that something could happen.
