A loan helped to build a fertilizer trench and to buy a tractor.

María Elcy's story

The daughter of a country man, but with great entrepreneurial sense, María acquired the family business given to her by her father. He never wanted to invest in it because he said that what he had was enough to live on. Not in agreement with this, María started to investigate and think about what would be the best way to increase her production. She was also thinking of what would be the most useful investment in order to increase the level of income and to make the family business grow.

Maria’s family has devoted their whole life to growing bananas. They distribute them in the town and to certain companies with whom they have a contract.

She is requesting a loan to build a fertilizer trench and to buy a tractor that a neighbor is selling much below cost. All of this is aimed at increasing production and the quality of the product and to strengthen and increase her land. She will be showing her father that investing in the business is worthwhile. With this, they will be able to generate good resources in order to have an excellent life as country people. She will be bringing her product into the future in all of the city markets.
