A loan helped a member to buy sheep, goats and rams.


Bibi Fathima Group's story

The Joint Liability Group (JLG) “Bibi Fathima” is starting its first loan cycle with Future Greens. This group consists of five members: Masabi, Hasina, Shamshad, Shainajbi, and Bibijan. The members of this group are engaged in rearing of sheep, goats and rams. They all work in agriculture fields as daily wage workers and earn INR 100 per day.

Hasina (the lady with her hand raised in the picture) is the leader. Hasina started a dairy farm with small capital and bought lambs and goats. Hasina is married and the mother of a son and daughter who are both very small. The women in the group consider her as a role model and want to grow with her help.

The loan the group is receiving will be used to buy sheep, goats and rams. They raise them in their community for six to eight months and sell them each for Rs 2,500 to Rs 3,000.

This loan will help turn these women turn into small entrepreneurs in Jalageri village, Bagalkot, Karnataka. They are very hardworking and confident that with this loan they will be able contribute to their families' incomes and become self-sufficient.

They all hope to save enough to send their children to school to educate them and turn them into good human beings.
