A loan helped to showcase the traditional varieties of uncultivated food crops.

Puttaraju's story

Establishing seed diversity centers, entrepreneurial stewardship for farmers, availability of healthy wholesome food and market independence from brokers is of prime importance today.

Puttaraju is a dedicated organic farmer growing millet and potatoes. His interest is to develop a market for uncultivated wild food crops and make them accessible to urban consumers.

Puttaraju is married and has two children. Both of them are studying. His son is in fifth grade and his daughter is in tenth grade. He lives in a small house with basic amenities.

Puttaraju has established a basic seed bank at his house. He has even received good media coverage for it. He also entertains exchange of seeds with other farmers from various places.

He is seeking this loan to realize his dream of showcasing the traditional varieties of uncultivated food crops under one roof, which will help other farmers and interested people to explore all possible avenues. Such a showcase will allow him to identify the specific needs of buyers and also to network with people across this sector.
