Doña Marina is 35 years old, a farmer, and a housewife with a lot of experience in growing corn, beans, and coffee. She is the mother of three children; the oldest is in secondary school and is involved in the different jobs with his father, while the other two are in primary school. Marina's level of education is incomplete; she attended school only until the fourth year because her parents were not able to support her financially since they had scarce resources. At the end of harvest season, her product is sold in the small shops in the adjacent area. It was her parents who, at an early age, taught her how to work the land because in their family it was the greatest and only source of income and sustenance for their children.
Marina has asked the COMIXMUL association for a loan with which she will buy 11 quintals (1 quintal = 100 kg) of Nutricafe, 15 quintals of coffee fertilization formula 18-46-0, and 15 quintals of urea, all helping to protect her crops for the season. Her plans for the future are to improve her crop area by increasing and strengthening it because this will allow her to take advantage of it to grow more product. As a mother, she wants to offer her children a better living standard and accomplish her goal of leaving them with a better inheritance and being able to send them to the university so that they will have better opportunities in life.
