Manuela (the first young lady from the right in the picture) is 29 years old and single. She lives with her family in Santa Catarina Ixtahuacan, Sololá.
She works growing and selling bananas in the community where she lives. She learned this business from her parents, who had been doing it for many years. This work generates the income she needs to support herself. She says she likes her work because it is honest and helps her feel useful to the community. She has been doing this ever since she was a child alongside her parents, for over twenty years.
She decided to organize a group in order to improve her and her fellow members' quality of life and help each other. She will use this loan to buy supplies like fertilizer and pay for maintenance labor for her banana plantations.
Manuela's dream is to extend the amount of land she uses to plant bananas so that her income increases and she can improve her quality of life.
