A loan helped to buy rouge, lip pencil, eyeliner, anti-wrinkle cream, make-up remover, and perfume.

Marcia Mercedes's story

Marcia, 45, is the single mother of a minor child who attends school and is her complete responsibility. She's from Nagarote, located in the western part of the country and known for it traditional dishes, such as quesillo, a soft cheese. Unfortunately, this young woman wasn't able to go to school because she lacked the financial resources. Currently she strives every day to give her child better living conditions and realize her dream that he become a professional.

Thanks to her effort and desire to get ahead, Marcia works selling cosmetics such as perfume, lip pencil, rouge, hydrating lotion, anti-wrinkle cream, lipstick, and eyeliner. She spends about 10 hours a day selling her products.

The goal of Marcia's loan is to stock her cosmetics business and make the most of the coming Holy Week season so she can earn more income in the near future.

Marcia's grateful for the help that Kiva lenders give to low-income people and poor countries like Nicaragua so they have the means to a decent job.
