A loan helped to build a hygienic latrine for her family.

Hoem's story

Hoem is 49 years old and an experienced farmer from Bakan district, Pursat province. She owns and manages a rice farming business on one and a half hectares of farmland in the local community. She has been in this business for almost 30 years and earns approximately USD 4.00 per day. She has three grown-up children who live with her and her husband and help her with her farming chores.

Hoem would like to improve sanitation practices, so she is now asking for a loan to build a hygienic latrine for her family. The reason she was encouraged to think of sanitation is because she was promoted by an HKL credit agent regarding a water loan program, which offers a low interest rate. She is very thankful to all Kiva lenders who have donated their funds via the program to enable poor families to improve their living conditions.
