A loan helped a member to buy wool and fabric.

Juan Xxi Group's story

The “JUAN XXI” communal bank is starting their eight cycle in Pro Mujer as part of the Los Andes regional office. It is composed of eight members led by a board of directors with Yola as the president. The members of the group have a variety of businesses amongst them: the sale of potatoes and cheese, a beauty salon, macrame blankets, sale of meals, sewing jackets, making mattresses, embroidery of blankets and selling vegetables.

The loan will help all of these micro-entrepreneurs including Yola. She states that she joined pro Mujer eight cycles ago on the invitation of a friend who is a member of the institution

Yola has a business of weaving and selling blankets. She tells us that she learned about this business watching a friend who negotiated this same product. Later with a loan from Pro Mujer she was able to expand her business.

The loan she is requesting now is to increase her capital, buying wool and fabric which she will buy in the markets of the city of El Alto. She will make them and then sell them in the markets on the Bolivia- Peru border. This work allows her to generate the resources she needs to maintain her family. She lives in a common-law relationship. Asked what she liked about Pro Mujer, she replied that she enjoyed the loans, health and training that the institution offers.

In this group: Yola , Elisa Primitiva, Lidia, Simona , Martha , Silveria, Marcos , Rosa
