A loan helped to buy more goods to sell.

Francis's story

Francis is 47 years old and lives in the town of Mpigi in the region of Kampala North in Uganda. He is married and has four children with three of them currently in school. For the past three years, Francis has been working hard to manage his retail shop, which sells groceries of different kinds.

To help expand his business, Francis has requested a loan of 2,500,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy more goods to sell, and will help Francis to generate greater profits and increase his capital. Francis hopes that in the future he will be able to expand the business.

Francis is a member of BRAC's Small Enterprise Program (SEP). The program primarily serves small entrepreneurs like Francis who do not have enough collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown too large for micro-loans.
