A loan helped to purchase agricultural inputs for her coffee plants.

Mirna Luz's story

Doña Mirna Luz is a very enterprising woman eager to get ahead. She is a 34-year-old housewife and a farmer who is married and a mother of three children who help work on their coffee crops and support their parents in many activities. Doña Mirna Luz learned the industry and trade of agriculture from her parents since she was very young and supported them in maintaining their coffee crops. Her crops are located in the same community where she lives. She must walk an hour to the land she cultivates which is her own thanks to an inheritance from her parents. Doña Mirna Luz could not study in her youth because her parents were low-income and did not have enough income to support her in her studies and to cover basic household needs such as food, clothing, and medicine within their means.
She dreams of seeing her children have a better future, better opportunities, better living conditions, and for them to be supported by their family by providing everything they need. She also dreams of buying land to cultivate more coffee and a better variety. She now requests a loan to improve her crops by giving them better agricultural inputs such as fertilizer and manure formulated for coffee plants and fungicides to avoid contamination by insects and diseases.
