Rithy's story

Rithy is 25 years old and a loving father of a small child, living with his family in Baray district, Kampong Thom province. Rithy is a construction worker, who earns a daily wage of KHR 25,000 per day to help his wife share the costs of living. He has been working in the construction industry for nearly five years. He mentioned that his income is not stable because occasionally there is no work to do at the fields, so it is a tough time to feed his family.

At the moment, Rithy is building his own house to provide a safe and comfortable place for his wife and child. He still needs some materials to complete the unfinished parts of this house, so he is asking for a loan in the amount of KHR 2,000,000 to buy planks of wood, nails, and other tools to help him in this construction. Rithy is very happy and thankful for the loan funded via the program like Kiva to enable low-income families to improve their living conditions.
