A loan helped to buy organic manure.

Yeny's story

Yeny, 32, is married to Abraham and they have two children living with her in a house she owns. She started working in agriculture with her husband 12 years ago because she was responsible for supporting her children economically; she works for them with much dedication.

She owns a 2-hectare piece of land where she grows cacao beans, coffee and an evergreen bush that are considered to be profitable products in her zone and region. Aside from her husband’s firm support she also hires day laborers sometimes to do collective work like weeding and harvesting. Aiming at getting good crop yields of quality product she tends to use organic manure.

She’s fortunate to own land that’s not too far from her location and that’s a big benefit for transportation costs incurred in moving products to city center to be sold are reduced. One of her main long-term goals is to become a great buyer and seller of said products in the large sales centers in her location.

This is her first Kiva loan and she’s grateful for the opportunity to improve her work she’s getting. On this occasion she wants to have 2,000 new soles to buy organic manure.
