The "Amigas x Siempre" ("Friends Forever") communal bank is beginning its fifth cycle with Pro Mujer as part of the Alto Lima regional hub. This group is made up of eleven members and is run by a board of directors, of which Tomasa is president. The members' businesses are varied and include making jackets, making macrame products, a grocery store, making sweaters using a machine, selling vegetables, making sachets, selling plastic, and selling clothing.
This loan will benefit small business owners such as Tomasa. She says that she joined Pro Mujer three years ago by invitation from a friend, who is a member of the institution and told her about their work. She currently has a business making macrame products. She started her business several years ago to support her parents. Afterwards, when she was in a relationship, she decided to establish her own workplace along with her partner.
She will use this loan to increase her working capital by buying wool from wholesale stores in the city of El Alto. After making her products, she will sell them from her workplace. This work allows her to generate an income to maintain her household as much as possible, since she is in a common-law marriage with two children.
When asked what she likes about Pro Mujer, she responded that she likes the savings and the training.
