A loan helped to purchase farming inputs (manure, pesticides, fertilizers).

Saúl Antonio's story

Saúl is 66 years old. He is the father of three children and lives in a common-law marriage with his partner. He has lived all of his life in the country, the place where he was born and learned farming, thanks to his parents’ teachings. Today, he has yucca, banana, and yam crops that he gathers and sells at the market plaza in the town where he lives. This activity has become his main source of income and he works tirelessly throughout the week starting at 4:00 a.m. Now, he has the support of this loan, which he will invest in the purchase of farming inputs (manure, pesticides, fertilizer) with the goal of providing continuity to his business and thus, increasing his profit margin. All this will allow him to overcome various obstacles caused by external situations he cannot control that directly affect his crops such as floods that occur in the rainy season and high input costs that do not allow the constant maintenance of crops, affecting economic stability. Saúl is a strong and persevering gentleman who is driven to keep striving and be able to continue with this labor because he longs to have the capacity to offer his family a better well-being and quality of life, and to enjoy the remaining years of his life.
