Marleni, 28, lives in her own house with her husband Eduardo and her young son.
Marleni earns a living in agriculture. She learned growing techniques helping her parents. Later, when she started her own family, she began to work with her husband. She says farm work is very demanding. She grows potatoes and peas on her own farm, and she has to look after her crops every day from an early hour to protect them from pests and inclement weather, which often affect and attack the crops.
Now she works alone because her husband started working as a day laborer building a hydroelectric station. What she doesn't like is carrying the heavy sacks of natural products to sell in the markets in the city.
This is her fourth Kiva loan and she's grateful for the financial help so she can get ahead. She also promises to make her payments punctually.
Marleni will invest the 2500 soles in organic soil amendments to nourish her fields.
