A loan helped to buy organic fertilizer and cocona (tip) and banana seeds.

Oscar's story

Oscar, 54, is married, has a son and lives with his family in his own home. He is a farmer and has a 10-acre plot of land that he bought eight years ago. He cultivates five acres of bananas and two acres of cocona (tip) that are in full production. He hires two workers who do the planting and harvesting. Eventually he will plant corn, yucca and other regional crops that are in much demand.

Oscar enjoys his work because he is able to make enough income to support his family and cover household expenses. He says he chose this line of work because he needed something that would generate enough resources to live quietly without having any academic training.

His current plans are to continue with his activity and expand his plantation to include other types of crops aimed at improving his economy.

On this occasion, he is requesting 2,000 PEN and is content knowing he can count on this financial support as it will allow him to advance in his business. He is also committed to paying back the loan on time. He plans to use the loan to buy organic fertilizer and cocona and banana seeds for the upcoming planting season.
