The six women from the Tiessiriton 2 group are all married into traditional families. They average 24 years of age with three children. They all live in the village of Banankoroniwere, in the region of Ségou (4th administrative region of Mali). They became acquainted through their rainy season agricultural activities, neighborhood ties, marriage and kinship in the village.
They cultivate groundnuts, millet and rice. To purchase small equipment, and supplies of agricultural inputs, the group heard about Soro Yiriwaso and are in their first seasonal loan cycle.
Mrs. Yah (the second woman standing from the right in the photo) is a great leader of rainy season agricultural activities in the village of Banankoroniwere. She plans to use her loan to plow her field, buy seeds and fertilizer, and pay youths to weed her field.
The sale of agricultural products is made in cash at the end of the rainy season. It will serve to pay off her loan and have some income to take care of the children, and part of the family.
In this group: Yah, Maman, Sanata, Bintou Founè, Hindia, Fatoumata F
