Maa Mangala Self Help Group's story

Maa Mangala Self Help Group was formed in 2008 and is composed of ten members in a small village in Odisha.

Bidulata is the lady who is standing in the middle of the photograph. She is wearing a yellow color saree. Bidulata, age 47, is an educated member of their group, so she was selected as the leader of Maa Mangala Self Help Group. Bidulata has one child. She is living with her husband and her child. Her child is in schooling.

With the loan that she is receiving, Bidulata plans to boost her agricultural business, and to do so she will purchase chemical fertilizers, rent a field and pay for the cost of labor. In order to strengthen her agricultural business, she plans to improve her strategy and make use of new farming techniques. Both Bidulata and her husband have been involved in this activity for five years. They have good knowledge of paddy cultivation and vegetable cultivation. Bidulata currently grows rice. She has requested a loan to grow her agriculture activity. Her ambition is to expand the business for which she is receiving financial support, and to diversify her activity by growing vegetables.
