Adding to basket
The ten members of the group SABABOUMANDOGO I are married women averaging 43 years of age and three children each, all living in traditional families in M’PEDOUGOU, a village in the 3rd administrative region of the Republic of Mali (SIKASSO). The women are collaborating with the microfinance institution Soro Yiriwaso to carry out their farm work during the rainy season. They are on their eighth planting loan with the institution. And all the previous loans were correctly repaid.
The crop grown is: sweet peas, as is the case with MAMOU SIAKA, who is the first person standing from the left in the photo. With her loan, she intends to purchase some farm inputs and to cover the cost of plowing for maintaining: 1 hectare. After the harvest, the produce is sold in the village to a customer base composed of men and women.
She plans on making an average profit of 200,000 francs CFA per planting. This profit will enable her to repay her loan and also to help out her husband in covering day-to-day expenses.
