Cham T., 40, is a mother of six children and lives with her husband in an outskirt area. She and her husband, Teng Teth, pictured above, are farmers. She grows rice and Teng plants a kind of mint. On average, they both earn a combination of $4 profit each day. A farmer's life is not easy; they both have to work very hard but earn little. Cambodia is a poor country and most of the provinces do not have irrigation systems yet, so most of the farmers depend on the weather to irrigate their farms. Mrs. Cham T. has six children, two of who are married and live away from home. The other two are employed in a garment factory and earn around $80 each a month.
Cham T., would like a loan from Kiva to purchase a cow to help in farming.
