A loan helped to buy fertilizers, seeds, and agricultural technologies to increase maize yields.

Indo's story

As a farmer and mother in a family of 4, Indo, 40, understands the importance of good nutrition in her children's well-being and development. She and her family live off the profits and food provided by her small maize farm in Kwatau. To ensure that she will be able to feed her family of four, Indo needs to ensure that she can maximize profits from her 1.1 Hectare plot of land. This planting season, Indo has set a personal goal to achieve a yield of 5Mt/hectare, which is 3.5 times higher that the national average. As a member of Babban Gona, she is on the path towards achieving this goal. Indo, like every Babban Gona member, has the unique opportunity to reap yields at least three times as high as the national average and earn at least three times as much as the average Nigerian farmer. A Babban Gona loan will make all the difference to Indo because it will give her access to the criticial inputs, such as improved seeds and fertilizer, that she needs to reach her goal of 5Mt. In addition, a Babban Gona loan will allow Indo the means to store her crops as well as the ability to sell them at a premium market price.
