A loan helped to buy sacks of manure and fertilizer and to plant one half of a ‘manzana’ [a land measurement unit equivalent to 7000 square meters] more of coffee.

Dina Liliana's story

Dina, age 31, lives in a common-law marriage. They have three children, and they live in a village in the Taulabe municipality in Comayagua.

Dina has been farming for 15 years. She used to grow basic grains, but she has seen that growing coffee goes better for her. She now only grows coffee. She sells the production to intermediaries in the area.

She has invested several loans in her farm. The loan she has now requested is number 16, and it is for 18,000 lempiras. She will use the loan to buy sacks of manure and fertilizer to provide maintenance to her farm. She will also plant one half of a ‘manzana’ [a land measurement unit equivalent to 7000 square meters] more of coffee.

She hopes to get better production this year. Her plan is to improve her farm and to expand production in order to be able to improve her family situation.
