A loan helped to rent agricultural land.

Vilma's story

Vilma is 23 years old, single, and has a dependent daughter. She works in her business alone, with the goal of providing good food and education for her young daughter, who is 4 years old. For unavoidable reasons, she couldn’t continue her relationship with her daughter’s father, so she decided to live alone. She has her mother, with whom she works in agricultural production.

The river that borders her property rose and caused damage to the peanut and bean crops, leaving them full of mud and other materials. This happened to a good part of the property in December of 2012, and this caused a decrease in their income. For this reason, their economic stability has suffered, and this has directly affected their ability to acquire the materials and inputs necessary for agricultural production, and it has also affected their ability to feed their family. To correct this problem, she is requesting a loan with the objective of improving their quality of life and stabilizing the family’s economic situation so they can return to the path of prosperity.
