A loan helped to purchase maize and cassava for making kenkey and banku.

Ekua's story

Ekua is married and has six children. She sells banku (made out of maize and cassava dough), a food staple eaten with many dishes in Ghana. Her business has been located in Abura for the past eight years. Her husband is a farmer. Ekua uses her income to pay for her children's school fees. Ekua will use the loan to purchase maize and cassava, which is what kenkey and banku are made from. With the new profits from her expanded business, Ekua plans to continue to support her children's education.
