The Committee of Entrepreneuring Women is a program carried out by Fundación Paraguaya which targets groups of enterprising women who create a village bank through which they receive assistance in terms of loans. The main goal is to give them the opportunity to carry out economic activities which enable them to live in dignity and contribute to a better quality of life in their homes. Lending to poor women creates a cascading effect that brings social and economic benefits to a whole family, and thus to the entire community. What is more, the sense of belonging to a group gives these poor women the energy and motivation to reach success.
In a remote area of Carapegua called Quiindy, a group of women heard about The Committee of Entrepreneuring Women. They set up a meeting and shared their desire of changing their world for the better by working very hard. These hopeful words stimulated optimism among these women and they decided to form a Committee.
Among the businesses these women run are grocery stores and sales of chipas and crafts. Some of these women are weavers. They need the credit to buy the materials related to their businesses; for instance, threads, fabrics, crafts, and ingredients to prepare chipas and others.
