A loan helped to purchase medicines.

Fatoumata's story

Fatoumata is 46 years old, married and the mother of four children. She lives with her husband (and is his only wife) in Torakabougou, a district of the city of Bougouni (the third administrative region of the Republic of Mali). After training in healthcare, Fatoumata soon began buying and selling pharmaceutical products, and she has been doing this for more than twenty years. With such a lot of experience in this activity, she enjoys a great reputation.
Following two individual loans (both fully repaid), she is seeking her third loan - which will be used to purchase 15 boxes of anti-malarials, 9 boxes of medicine for respiratory problems, and 5 boxes of antibiotics. Her main supplier is in Bamako (the capital city of Mali).
She sells the products retail and for cash, from her pharmacy in Bougouni, to a customer base of both men and women.
With this new loan, she intends to generate a monthly profit of 150,000 FCFA. With these profits, she plans to cover her essential outgoings and those of her family, to pay the loan interest and to invest the remainder in her business.
